SoilT (Soil Temperature model library) is a software component implementing models for the simulation of surface soil temperature and for heat propagation along the soil profile (in turns providing soil profile temperature).
For surface soil temperature, the following approaches are available:
- Parton (1984),
- Neitsch et al. (2011) (SWAT approach).
For soil profile temperature, the available approaches are:
- Campbell (1985),
- Neitsch et al. (2011) (SWAT approach).
Models can be used and composed (e.g., Donatelli et al., 2014) to provide hybrid modelling solutions.
The component is distributed free of charge for non-commercial purposes with a dedicated software development kit (SDK), and can be used by modellers and developers in their own applications. SDK includes documentation of code and algorithms, as well as sample projects showing how to use the component and how to link it with others for, e.g., crop growth and development, soil water balance.
